Swiss Cheese Steaks - a message for Dean supporters
Hey everybody,

Just back from vacation. I find that when I get back, some people are delighted about the media ho's having a bit of fun with John Kerry's cheesesteak story.

As an ardent Dean supporter (he is finally the candidate with a good record, good vision, good policies, who is not afraid to stand up and say what needs to be said - a rarity in today's Democratic party), I would urge all other Dean supporters not to latch on to these stories where the media sycophants and courtiers make fun out of Democratic candidates - whether it is our candidate or another - for a made up reason. We have had enough Love Canals, Love Stories, Buddhist Temples, and Willie Hortons to make our lives very difficult, and playing into them does us no good (You hear that, Mr. "Gore invented the internet" Kerry?) Do not drink the media-ho kool-aid, even if it bashes a candidate which is not yours.

Dr. Dean is a big person, and doesn't need to have Democrat-hating media-hos in his camp. Please do not use these kind of (Kerry is a rich-New Englander-who-doesn't-know-how-to-eat-a-cheesesteak) media creations in your support of Dean. They will only linger in the mind of the electorate if we give them oxygen, and Zeus knows the Republicans don't need any more fuel.

Cheers, PP

1. There is a solution to this controversy
Next presidential debate, when all the talking bullshit is through, we're going to line 'em up at a picnic table with cheesesteaks for everyone. Then we'll see who's presidential!

Have Dean supporters latched on to these stories? I guess I'm a "Dean supporter" because I'm pissed with the constant freepshit attacks against him and I said quite clearly that I'm pissed with that freepshit attack against Kerry.

5. Hey Zidzi
sorry for a bit of an incoherent post. I'm enjoying the last hours of vacation here before work tomorrow, if you know what I mean - just let me say that posting while under the influence is not recommended - I can't find the link to the original egregious article, but I saw it on MediaWhoresOnline earlier today.

I totally agree with you on Quisling Joe. That guy has a place, but it is not as the leader of the Democratic party.

Jane Wagner is Lily Tomlin's life partner, and wrote her one-person show that that line is from. It is priceless to me!

6. We Stand United as Democrats
A media whore attack on Kerry like that is an attack against us all. Sign me up to defend Kerry. What a ridiculous piece of tripe that was. (No pun intended.)

8. I agree
and I would like to take the time to pat myself on the back for bitching about the stupid sandwich thing on DU when the story came out. :)

Crap reporting like this is an insult to all Democratic candidates and an insult to all voters. We are not voting for middle school class president here and it's about time journalists start taking us and our leaders more seriously. Looking back, I wish I had sent the reporter a letter expressing my disgust...I'll take note and be sure to do it next time.

9. You Were Definitely Missed!
Even many of the normally sane went the way of madness. Here's to hoping you'll bring some reason to the maelstrom.

:toast:

Good to have you back!

PS - Did you ever catch Tomlin's work with Richard Pryor?

10. Nothing like a week on the sand to bring perspective
The real enemy here is the media. I mean, everybody knows that Republicans are evil hypocritical bastards, but they don't yet realize that the media are evil hypocritical bastards. That's a problem for us.

I haven't seen Tomlin with Pryor - it sounds incredible. I do have a scratchy old "Ernestine" album which I play from time to time!

11. Just went to a Dean fundraiser in Chicago
Gov. Dean was able to get a fairly inhibited crowd (wealthy north-shore types) cheering loudly. One comment that got a really big holler (paraphrased): "..and whoever gets the nomination--I intend to work like hell for him!"

12. Excellent
Good for Dean. What a great campaigner he is - and that line will win him a lot of respect in my book, and with others. Even more so if he continues to follow through with it, if necessary.
