Poll question: Who is the best female VP candidate?
My vote's for Mary Landrieu.

I'd pick Jennifer Granholm, though, if I could.

1. What about Pat Schroder?

Always liked her. Tough and persuasive.

4. Unfortunately ...
... she was born in Canada. Anyone born outside the USA is not allowed to.

7. Condi Rice.

Putting her on the Rep ticket would be a smart move on their part, and go a long way toward locking up the next election.

Outside of that there are no good choices. It would be a bad move, at this point in time, for a democratic candidate to choose a woman as his running mate.

8. Landrieu, but
she would only work with someone like Clark at the head of the ticket, I think. Maybe Janet N. in a few years after she has some more experience as AZ gov. AZ is a gooood state.

9. Well,

I haven't voted; I don't know all the choices, so I'm looking right now. But this lets Landrieu out of any chance on my part:

She worked across party lines in 2001 to craft the No Child Left Behind Act, the most sweeping reform ever of our nation’s public schools.

http://landrieu.senate.gov/newsite/biography.cfm

Murray is definitely better on education, one of my keystone issues. And she worked on legislation to take the punishment out of NCLB. And a quick glance at her record on other issues is encouraging.

Jeanne Shaheen--not impressed after a glance here:

http://ontheissues.org/Jeanne_Shaheen.htm#Education

Janet Napolitano--too little of her stances on issues (that I could easily find) to be considered.

Nancy Pelosi--Good record. A possibility. One education vote suspect, but positive overall.

The rest I know.

Top 2: Boxer and Murray. Pelosi is 3rd.

Now to go back and figure out which of the top 2 to vote for!

10. I would certainly rather have Boxer too, but...

it would be electoral suicide... I was going on that, not on who I agree with 100%.

11. Two different questions, isn't it?
Who would you rather see, or who do you think a majority of voters will vote for? And the 3rd question...which do you choose when evaluating "best?"

Being stubbornly independent, I always vote for the candidate, not for other people's votes. In the end, on this poll, I picked Murray. While I would happily give my vote to Boxer, I've seen the hatred she engenders from the right up close and personal, being a californian living in a conservative republican stronghold. Of course, they may feel the same about Murray where she comes from, LOL.

12. Certainly
I read "Who is the best female VP candidate" to mean who would make the best candidate. If it had said "Who would make the best female VP" or "Which female would you most like to see in the office of vice president" or something like that, I would have been inclined to pick someon more liberal.

But it is understandable ;)

I probably would have chosen boxer as "best" but that is at least partly because I know more about her.
