USPS Breast Cancer Stamps
We need those of you who are great at forwarding on information with
your e-mail network. Please read and pass this on. It would be wonderful if 2003 were the year a cure for breast cancer was found!!!!

This is one email you should be glad to pass on. The notion that we
could raise $35 million by buying a book of stamps is powerful!

As you may be aware, the US Postal Service recently released its new
"Fund the Cure" stamp to help fund breast cancer research. The stamp was designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland. It is important that we take a stand against this disease that affects so many of our Mothers, Sisters and Friends.

Instead of the normal 37 cents for a stamp, this one costs 45 cents.
The additional 8 cents will go to breast cancer research. A "normal"
book costs $7.40. This one is only $9.00. It takes a few minutes in line at the Post Office and means so much. Or they can be ordered direct from the USPS Stamp Fulfillment Service by calling 1-800-782-6724 or via the website www.usps.com
(NOTE: on the site, click buy stamps. click by subject. click social awareness. By ordering stamps online, I paid $1 for priority shipping and handling, and i don't have to wait in line!)

If all stamps are sold, it will raise an additional $35,000,000 for this vital research. Just as important as the money is our support. What a statement it would make if the stamp outsold the lottery this week. What a statement it would make that we care.

I urge you to do two things TODAY:

1. Go out and purchase some of these stamps.

2. E-mail your friends to do the same.

Many of us know women and their families whose lives are turned
upside-down by breast cancer. It takes so little to do so much in this
drive.

We can all afford the $1.60 Please help & pass it on.

Cut and paste the above message and send it to those on your email list who would like to help.

1. I remember a segment on The Daily Show a long time ago
They were talking with stamp collectors who were OUTRAGED (seriously) that they were going to have to pay extra to collect one of these stamps. It was hilarious, the interviewer basically let the collector go on and on about how unfair it was, blah blah, then he asked the collector, "So, will you get one of them?" The collector replies sheepishly, "Yeah." LMAO.

I think it's a great idea, but the USPS should be careful. Obviously fighting breast cancer is a noble cause. How about Alzheimer's? Cerebral palsy? West Nile? Rickets? Chicken pox? Where do you draw the line? What groups will feel slighted because they can't get a stamp to raise money? Can I write a sentence without ending it in a question mark? Do I care???
