I'm doing something a lot more than Not One Damn Dime Day...
...Until after the 2008 elections (and maybe only until a Democrat or someone with a backbone and a heart gets elected), I will not spend a single penny on any form of electronic information. What I mean by that is if I can copy it, I won't buy it. No more money spent on movies, music, books, video games, computer games, computer software, et cetera.

The majority of peoples' entertainment today can be had for free, and if we need to hurt sales of companies regardless of what political party, or policies they support, to get this tyrant out of office, I'm all for it.

REMEMBER: If we can copy it, we won't buy it!

1. I just buy used stuff.
That saves me some money and benefits the seller (mostly not a business), denies the company any extra profit, and provides me with legal entertainment. I'm not judging your actions, but I wouldn't want to get caught and finding people to lend copies can be a pain in the ass.

3. In this day and age of the Internets, you don't need friends...
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 03:46 AM by samwisefoxburr
...just people willing to share ;) . But, yeah I see your point, and I was kind of reluctant to get back into doing this, and even posting about this. But my defense would be that I am protesting, and that I am only one of literally MILLIONS of other people, and throwing me in jail would not stop any of this.

ON EDIT: There are organizations that would defend such actions such as the Electronic Freedom Foundation. To put it even in simpler terms to the companies "Impeach Bush and I will stop."

2. It will be a bit hard for you to vote in 2008...
If you are in jail, or released with multiple felonies on your record for pirating software.

Just a thought.

5. Speaking as a book author, that's a bad idea.
It's stealing to take works for free and deprive authors of copyright royalties. Trust me, most authors and artists are starving, or close to it.

6. That's not a protest; it's theft
Doing without is a protest.

No matter how you try to rationalize it, what you're suggesting is stealing. May as well shoplift everything you want and do some pickpocketing on the way out of the store if you're going to do that. Your justification that it's "a protest" is the lipstick for your pig.

7. perhaps just change yourself
Seek independently produced and distributed (it's hard but worth while) and buy those. Buy from those who don't hate you/us. I stopped buying most modern music because I stopped listening to it.

There is plenty to listen to INSTEAD of consuming corporate mumbo jumbo.

Try starting with:

8. Wait a minute!! I'm a democrat who sells music - don't hurt me!!
Hey - there are a lot of us who need to make a living selling books, music or other electronic media. Instead of boycotting ALL MEDIA, PLEASE consider BUYBLUE.ORG

You can boycott all the EVIL RED COMPANIES without hurting us nice ones!! Thanks!!!
