Anyone ever smoked shishi (sp)?

I just went to a Mediterreanean restaurant and smoked flavored molasis called shishi/sheshi, I dont know how to spell it. Has anyone else ever done this? It was the neatest experience!

1. Was it molasses flavored tobacco?

I've heard the term Sheesha/Shisha in reference to a whole range of flavored tobacco, usually smoked through a hookah.

4. tradition? pfaw!

a hookah is simply an extravagant water pipe. time was when it was employed towards smoking OPIUM, or TOBACCO, or a mixture of the two. also you can flavor it in some way or other (which imo rarely tastes very good) . . . now i suppose sundry delinquents use it to smoke POT, because: 1. it's not as trashy as a punctured Coke can and 2. the smoke is inhaled & exhaled much more smoothly. i suppose you could find a cheap hookah at any local headshop, or you might occasion a HOOKAH BAR in your city's arab district (if you're lucky enough to have one), OR you could buy a nice gaudy hookah of brass the next time you're in or near the arabian peninsula. in some of the larger cities of S. Arabia there are hookah bars (sans the elegant DANCE MUSIC) where geezers gather to discuss politics, women and how they're ALWAYS less modest than they used to be (and this just ALWAYS seems to be the case), as well as very, very, very important personal problems. nice places to waste away a day or two.

6. My son Tom has tried this in a cafe in London's Arab quarter

near Marble Arch. He brought some home; it smells of strawberries. They call it Sheesha here. His lungs were pretty fouled up the next day though....
