I'm really angry this morning.
Edited on Wed Apr-07-04 08:32 PM by JaySherman
Last night my girlfriend's car was towed. I'm suspicious that one of my neighbors or my landlord called the police. Apparently the other tenants don't like me much. I've been the source of several noise complaints, which is fair enough. Me and my friends can be a little rowdy at times, but I've been making a serious effort to keep the noise down. What makes me suspicious is that last night right after she came over, someone was banging on my wall and door. Scared us both a little bit. The only 'noise' I can think of that we made was when were standing in my doorway chatting for a minute. Right after that, the banging started. After she left a couple hours later, she called me back to say her car had been taken away.

The thing is, she's been parking in the same spot on the street (not marked) for the past 5 months and never had a problem. My friends have also used the spot without a hassle. The Japanese cops rarely patrol this street, and I've never seen any after 10:00 at night. They all hide in the cobans. So what are the chances that one would happen by all of a sudden at that late hour and decide to tow her? Slim to none, I'd say. They didn't tow her when she was parked there in a snowstorm, why would they now? The recent problems with neighbors, and the banging, lead me to believe somebody snitched.

Now she's got to pay a 15000 yen (about $140) fine and deal with her parents' anger, since it was her dad's car. This really makes me  because she's an innocent in all this. She didn't do anything wrong. If there's a problem it's between me, my neighbors, and the landlord. I want to find the scumbag coward that dragged her into the middle of this, but it's probably better that I don't cause I might end up doing something I'd regret (like beating the crap out of them). What's worse is I have few options open to me, being the foreigner in Japan. I don't speak Japanese very well, and I don't even know who my landlord is. I pay my rent and deal with all my living arrangements through a third party, who isn't particularly supportive of me either.

I'm going offer to pay the fine myself. It's the only thing I can think of to do. But right now I'm stewing because of what I think was done to her. She didn't deserve this. She was so happy when she left last night. Now she's upset, in trouble with her parents, and blaming herself.

Am I reading too much into this??? Maybe I've got a persecution complex, but it's the only thing that makes sense. I swear, I hate people sometimes.

Thanks for letting me vent.

:grr: :grr: :grr:

edit: I realize there are plenty of other things to be mad about, but in my own little world this is front & center right now.
