Remember holiday gatherings when you had to sit at the kids table.
I had two awful cousins who made it impossible to eat.

I always wanted to sit at the adult table but never got the chance.

By the time I got old enough there weren't any family gatherings.

1. In our family we called it the "Anna table."
But Anna was code for animal. My sister liked to sit at the Anna table even as an adult. Our Anna table included second generation kids, even if they were over 21, so my sister, as first generation wasn't too out of place.

4. We had a childrens table and it served up some of my best Thanksgiving memories.
I Loved my cousins; they were like brothers and sisters to me. We had games we played every Thanksgiving which I do not recall the details from. By contrast, the adult table was laden with candelabras, fine china and silver, along with german crystal that you dared not break with tablecloths that seemed to shimmer in the candlelight. Grandma was a legendary hostess on the West Side of LA, and it was at her knee that I learned my love of cooking and social gatherings which evolved into running restaurants like Grandma's friends Maude Chasen (I have her chili recipe, dictated to my grandma in the kitchen)or Teddy Hansen who was the hostess at Scandia. It was still fun, but it was grown up fun. But traditionally Thanksgiving at the adult table wine was served to all. Age 16 was the family age of consent. So that was cool. I had what I often refer to as an idyllic childhood. We were very very fortunate, and I had nothing to do with the luck of my birth. But there we were.

7. When we went to my aunt and uncle's, we kids got to sit in the kitchen
While the adults sat in the dining room and couldn't see a thing we were doing. There was my brother, my cousin (the closest thing I had to a sister) and me. My cousin got out-of-control silly pretty easily and, at some point, she'd get laughing so hard that milk would come out her nose... That's usually when the adults showed up, when we got too noisy. Ah, Memories. :D

9. I still have to eat at the kids table
Probably has something to do with already being half in the bag before dinner, though.
