Edited on Tue Nov-22-11 08:08 PM by applegrove
in the Thorn Birds. I was crushed when I was watching the series on the tv and my parents made me come home (we didn't have cable) before it was over. That was the first in a long line of gay men I had a crush on. No surprise I am single and loving it.

1. I loved him in Dr. Kildare as a teen, and even sent away for a studio photo.
Oh, was he was gorgeous! I had absolutely no knowledge he was gay (I think he was closeted for most of his adult life.) until decades later. Great actor.

2. He was a gorgeous man when he was young
No so much - or maybe my tastes changed - when he got older.

I was another Dr. Kildaire fan, though I'm a few years younger than you, I guess. By the time I was a teen, the series was off the air.

4. The preacher who baptized me.
I was five. Brother Lee was Dreeeeaaaamy. I wasn't giving my heart to Jesus, I was giving my fantasies to Brother Lee. It means more about me than I like to admit, but my getting "saved" was a watershed moment in that I realized that the grownups couldn't read my sinful little mind. It was mighty freeing, it was.

6. When I was five, I had my tonsils removed and wound up staying in the hospital for 10 days
for an unrelated issue.

There was a nurse who made me her personal patient. When I was finally released, I cried and cried. She wheeled me all the way to the car in a wheelchair.

I used to write to her. I even wrote her a couple of times when I was out at sea with the Navy in the 80's.

8. I lived for television as a child.
Edited on Wed Nov-23-11 02:01 AM by hyphenate
There were many, many crushes for me.

I think the first one--or at least the first one I remember, is David Hedison as Lee Crane. In fact, I had a crush on all three of the leads: David Hedison, Richard Basehart, and Bob Dowdell.

Around the same time, I suppose Marshall Thompson was next on Daktari.

They influenced my life tremendously. I fell in love with TV and TV shows. My goal was to work in TV.

But I am likely boring people with my prepubescent activities, no matter how entertaining I think they are. ;)

Oooops. That show was Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea for those who aren't familiar with the cast members.

11. Probably Barbara Eden from "I Dream of Jeannie".
.
.
.
Somewhat later, my first... shall we say "nocturnal fantasy dream"... involved
a cute girl at school who was Barbara Eden-like. I was the Sultan and she was
one of the harem girls.
.
Keep in mind I was an ignorant, innocent utterly CLUELESS smalltown Midwestern boy.
.
I wrapped my arms around my object of affection and hugged her and hugged
her and hugged her and hugged her and suddenly, I just didn't feel like hugging
her anymore... so I went back to my Sultan seat, sat down and took a nap.
.
When I woke up sometime later in my own bed in the "real" world, it wasn't until
I was somewhat older before I understood just what that had all been about.
.
.
.
By then, my crush on THAT particular girl was over.
.
.
.

Nancy Sinatra was just plain gorgeous. I saw a promotional standup of this cover in the window display of a local record store and just about fell out of my shoes; I was 10 at the time:

:wow:

Still a mighty fine piece of album cover, err, art.

It wasn't until years later that it turned out he was gay. At the time, though, we thought he was the hottest thing on earth.

33. Marilyn
if you're talking unfulfilled lust for a woman. (pant Pant)
She lived near the Brentwood Country Club, and my uncle Don was a member. We often spied her driving in a limo (well, you could just see a blonde in a scarf beyond the tint) or sometimes riding in a green dodge (her secretary's car , I thinkon the way to a butcher shop on Pico. More deliciously, she was a frequent visitor to the home next door to Uncle Dons, which a certain US President used while in town. You could sneak over and peek through the hedge to get a glimpse of her. She just radiated lustful beauty. When her pictoral came out in Life, well, ahem......it was better than any porno. Let's say that.

36. This woman
was my first big crush.

not sure what it means about me - Carter is a tall woman and I've generally preferred petite women. Most of the women I dated over the years were brunettes, but that's hardly a stretch as most of the world's women have dark hair. Nobody I've dated has had super strength, carried a magic lasso or flown an invisible jet, either.
