1. That's true of my experience as a freelancer.
People think: "freelance"...woohoo, be your own boss. work when you feel like it.

Reality is: I spend all of my time chasing work and the rest of my time chasing deadbeat fuckwits that owe me money. I work like a dog, I'm the kicking post of every project (because if you're going to blame anybody...blame the guy who works from home, works in his pj's, doesn't associate with you in the office and gets paid to do a job that everybody thinks they can do.) I get to not enjoy my freetime because I don't know when I'm working again. I never have any money because I pay all my bills well into advance in case I face a long dry-spell. I'd give it up tomorrow for a nice steady paycheck.

3. Or how about...
...the clients that like to call you when their full time person has been sitting on a project for two weeks that needs to go out in four days. They want you to drop everything that you're doing and expect you to be able and capable of doing two weeks worth of work in four days. You advise them that you will have to work on it 12+ hours a day and at a premium rate. They agree to anything and everything....until they get your bill and then they start crying and complaining about how high it is and how can (dare) you gouge them when they've paid someone else to work on it for two weeks already.

Sound familiar?
