For me: "Who's sorry now" (Connie Francis)

1. There are songs that are very bittersweet to me, but none that I can't stand to hear.
Although "Mirror in the Mirror," by Arvo Part (which I post here all the time as a beautiful/moving/tear-inducing song), is difficult for me to listen to, as the first time I heard it was when I was going in to kiss my toddler son goodnight after he had fallen asleep. For some reason the music just made me think about how everyone in this world is going to die, we're all dying, and that even my little boy was going to lose his mama someday. And that even though we're all dying, we can't pull our heads out of our asses enough to treat each other with compassion -- so many people think they can avoid their death by being cruel and greedy. It wasn't devastating, just beautiful and bittersweet.

2. Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton
It's gorgeous but I can't bear to think of how he came to write it. I had a toddler too when that song came out. The story behind it just tore me up and it still does. So I can't listen to that song at all.

6. I used to didn't, but somewhere around 20 years ago, I changed.

I remember once in the 1980's, me and my boyfriend were watching MTV, and he said, "That song's not in English." The song was "99 Luftballoons." (That was in the days when MTV played music videos.)

"Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "The Things My Father Said". Both beautiful songs that just mean too much.

8. Mr. Brickbat doesn't listen to "Total Eclipse of the Heart" either. It was played at the funeral of
his best friend, who was killed in an accident when they were in seventh grade.

9. Aw, so sad. That's really terrible.
It was our little guy's favourite song, I used to sing it to him all the time because his eyes sparkled like diamonds, it would put him to sleep with a smile on his face.
