Smoke alarm keeps chirping. Can't figure it out.
It isn't the battery cause I changed it. It is wired and ran with electricity with a battery backup. They are apparently connected because when one goes off they all do. It went off this morning and there was no smoke or anything.

Any ideas?

Thanks...

10. Yep. We had to replace all of ours...
chirping is gone. This was after I kept trying new batteries. Of course, they all chirped at different times.

4. Sometimes you just have to buy a new one.
I guess failing with a false alarm is better than failing with no alarm.

8. This used to happen to me in my apartment in Dublin, OH
It took me ages to figure it out. The apartment came with an alarm system that I never subscribed to and for reasons I never found out, it had a "smoke alarm" button. About once every 2-3 months, the smoke alarm would start chirping and I had to press the "smoke alarm" button on the freaking alarm system I did not use. Don't know why, never asked, I just know it worked.

11. Clean them out...
Remove the covers and blow out with canned air. Or get out the vacuum cleaner, extension nozzle and soft brush. Use the vacuum to suck, not blow.

20. Agree with others in the thread - dust/particulate on the sensor(s)
Blow it out carefully with compressed air.

Many of those ghost pictures make them look like smoke...
