I'm tired of "hunkering" down.
Did lose a branch off a tree. I moved it and got a free jet spray shower as a reward.

Who else is hunkering down?

Stay dry but thirsty!

6. Hunkering down on Long Island.
We have plenty of ice, water, candles, and other various provisions. Our biggest worry is our huge old trees.

We just built a lego helicopter and are now watching a terrible made for SyFy flick waiting to see what happens.

9. Stay safe family...
Hope the evening just turns into family TV watching and NOTHING scary in real life happens.

14. Try "Paradise Alley" an early (1978) Stallone film that he wrote, directed and starred in.
.
.
.
A little-known gem, IMneverHO.
.
.
With Armand Assante and Anne Archer (why the A.A. coincidence?), Frank McRae (one
of my favorite character actors -- he was Hazel in "Cannery Row") and Tom Waits in
a low-key cool role as the gangster's piano player, "Mumbles".
.
.
.
Set in post-war 1940's Hell's Kitchen, it's far above any other Stallone vehicle I can
think of.

17. I watched it, too - and the storm is no where near me
First time I've seen it since it was in the theatres. I have no idea why I would have gone to see that thing - maybe because Roger Zelazny was one of the writers.

11. Hunkering down in Westchester County, north of NYC. . .
Listening to Radio Margaritaville and a Jimmy Buffett concert done in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago. They were supposed to be live tonight in DC, but Irene has forced their postponement there until September 1.

All set here, food, ice, batteries, water. Main concerns where I'm at are power outage and fallen trees/broken tree limbs rendering streets temporarily impassable.

I'll sign off in a few hours and try to get some sleep.

Keep faith and keep safe. Good night.

13. I'm "virtually" hunkering down
from the PNW via CNN and the Intertubes....

Hunker is a funny word...

Origin of HUNKER
probably akin to Middle Dutch hucken, huken to squat, Middle Low German hōken to squat, peddle, Old Norse hūka to squat
First Known Use: 1720

16. I am hunkering down from 107 degrees today.
Didn't go out until almost dark, then it was 100.

It so hard to watch all that rain falling where y'all don't need but we do.

It is funny we were told to hunker down with Ike.

Stay safe.
