Ever been part of a medical study? When I was in grade 8 they did a study on scoliosis.

They took a nakid picture of the backside of all of us in grade 6, 7, and 8 in the city. They would line up the boys and girls separately, get you to mostly derobed and you'd 'pose' in front of a camera that took a photo through a membrane making the photo a topographical one. That way they could see the incidence of scoliosis right away. They also gave us each personal results. I had a mild case. Never bothered me though you can see one of my hips is much higher than the other.

I was visiting a specialist for a related problem. When I was giving him my history his face suddenly lit up with excitement and he blurted out, "Hey! I was just reading about you guys! Most of you were sterile!"

Turns out I was one of the exceptions.

Back in the 80's I knew someone that worked in the medical building at NASA-JSC. He got me into the motion sickness testing. I went through all the ground-based tests, but never got to go up on the "vomit comet" (KC-135.) Probably had something else going on in my life.

But, they did manage to make me sick in one of the tests!

4. Can I say sort of?

I was born with a really bad case of amblyopia (cross eyed - right eye looked like it was part of my left eye).
I spent much time at our local university hospital as a sort of a special case where they tried experimental treatments on me. My mother put her foot down at surgery, though.
It pretty much cleared up by itself when I hit 12.
Funny story though.
Fast forward 40 years and my daughter has a college job as a lab tech in the biology department at that same hospital. I went to visit her one day and I walked in to the very same room that I had walked into dozens of times when I was age 1 to 10. Sent a chill down my spine.
