Great book recommendation

Best book I've read in awhile, and I read alot.

"The Devil's Highway" by Luis Alberto Urrea

Its a true story (I only read nonfiction, because true stories are real) about the death of 14 illegal immigrants in the Arizona desert who succombed to the elements after their "guide" got them lost. Very well written and researched book, detailed without being odious or boring in its history. The story is interesting, and needs to be told.

But the writing is what is great, the authors' style is descriptive yet terse, certain passages are almost poetic. Combined with the gripping story, the beauty of the writing draws you in and keeps you captive. Of course, as a layman, I cannot do it justice, but as a reader I can say that it is new , different, and good.

Its been awhile since I read a book cover-to-cover in one sitting. I can recommend this one to my liberal friends for the subject matter.I can recommend it to my literate friends for the writing. Check it out.
