I just don't understand the music you kids listen to these days.

Bing? Now THAT was a singer.

FRANK? Don't get me started.

DINO? Now you're talking.

You kids would be better off taking a bath, getting a haircut, wearing some sensible shoes, and listening to some REAL music for a change.

1. Bing Crosby on acid would be a trip
Anyway... (according to songfacts):

Jeremiah was likely inspired by John Jeremiah, the keyboardist for '70s Rock group Aliotta, Haynes and Jeremiah

The bullfrog in old blues songs generally is a symbol for bad times or hard luck

2. I saw Hoyt Axton...who wrote the song...at the Berkeley Community Theater.
He was the opening act for the Souther Hillman Furay band.

He had Jennifer Warnes as a backup singer (probably best known for her duet with Joe Cocker on "Up Where We Belong."

Hoyt was one odd duck. On one hand, he seemed like your average redneck singer-songwriter. On the other, I sense there was a lot more going on under the surface.

He had a place, and he had a time. Every once in a while it comes back to pay a visit...like today.

4. I've got to agree...if that's not his best, it's damned close to it.
And I did enjoy the Elvis version.

5. I loved Hoyt Axton when he was on WKRP
He was perfect at being vaguely threatening as Jennifer's boyfriend from West Virginia.

6. Opening act for the Souther Hillman Furay band
I'd say that's being down on your luck, but a gig's a gig.

I once saw J.D. Souther in concert when he visited a James Taylor concert to sing that duet they had.

Also saw the Byrds when they got back together in the 80s. Not sure if they called themselves that at the time.

That leaves Furay. Don't know if I have ever seen him onstage.
