It's sort of addicting to watch. This pup is really very smart.

First time I've seen a dog get fooled like that. Funny, though.

20. Dog is probably thinking:
"What's wrong with this human? I can't seem to get him started."

23. Clearly a defect in the human, not the canine! The dog did everything perfectly!

5. He looked up immediately. "Pretty kewl, huh?"
Then a couple seconds later was running again.

Seizure is pretty doubtful.

But welcome to DU.

7. Some seizures just last seconds.
Edited on Thu Jul-28-11 07:04 PM by idiotgardener
Falling over like that is not normal for a dog. Maybe he fainted.

Thanks for the welcome!

8. Couldn't she be showing submissiveness
by falling over? That's what it looks like to me, especially when she later runs up and appears to ingratiate herself to the other dog.

10. He was about to do it again at the end of the vid
Besides, that's not what a seizure looks like - my Lab had them for 13 years. Seizures also involve a "postictal" state where the dog goes through considerable recovery. The dog in this video is fine - it was doing a new trick.

And may I echo the "welcome to DU"!

21. I had a dog with seizures too
it was due to an illness and only lasted a few weeks, but they were similar to the video at first. Did you ever find out what caused your dog's?

Maybe the video does not show a seizure, maybe he fainted or something, but I don't believe for a second he was playing dead.

17. Both my kid and the dog did the 'drop dead' act. Scared me until they laughed at me.

6. It looked to me as if the dog rebounded
too quickly to have had a seizure.

9. It's called playing dead
this dog is smart. He/she may have been tired running around trying to get the dog to play.

11. Funny! That looks like a Blue Tick Hound (German Pointer) I had.
She ran just like that and we used to watch her race the other dogs, just like a kid, in her face was "Come on, race ya!"

22. Yes, one of the best dogs we ever had, the only time she 'missed' commands was to run
across the street to greet a child, any child. Because she grew up with my children, all children were were friends. When she was young she would bounce up and pull all the laundry off the line. I finally got her to stop, only to realize she considered any laundry left after sundown was fair game.

Ah, the pecking order with a sense of humor. Wow, I love animals.

The cat will just give you a withering look and flip you off ...
