Call From a Soldier...
I'm at work, getting ready to do my Sunday afternoon radio show. I just had a soldier on the Kuwait/Iraq border call me to request a song for his wife. Of course, I'm going to do it. He said that he won't be home until next January.

1. Welcome to DU, Tom
If you get any more calls from soldiers, please tell them that everyone in the US supports and admires them.

Next January is a long time. Tell him we're doing everything we can to bring him home sooner.

4. Breaks my heart.
I grew up with my father in the military. I have no desire to separate families, especially of young National Guardsmen and Reservists. Those full-time people who signed up should have expected this, but before * the National Guard was NEVER this dangerous. Bring em Home NOW.

5. another military brat here and
we know that there is more to supporting the troops than just cheering when they come home. Making sure we send them only when necessary is our biggest promise to the military.

6. Only when necessary and with the best possible equipment then.
Anything else is betrayal.
