I CAN FINALLY SEE MY FISH!!!!
I've been battling my pond since I built it a year ago. It's always been healthy, but despite CONSTANT maintenance and re-inventing and re-designing of the filtration system, it's been the color of pea soup.

So I broke down and hired a fella off of Craigslist (that site ROCKS) who came out and helped design THE filtration systems, including the (gulp) $200 UV filter in addition to the goop filter.

We installed it last Wednesday and this morning, I CAN SEE MY KOI and pond comets. The water is clear as glass... the fish are ZOOMING around all excited... Heck I'm excited! Moby, the 18 inch Koi has GROWN!

Never heard of Craigslist. I'll check it out.

(And thanks for reminding me I have to do water changes today.)

4. heheh, washing the fish
I'll have to add that to my lexicon. Maybe it'll help me be more responsible toward my charges and do water changes more frequently.

3. Cool, my parents have a pond too
It is a small pond with goldfish and herbs and stuff growing near it. They actually bought cheap, but colorful goldfish at the local pet store. It is by the unattatched garage. The water is filtered through a tank in the garage and comes out the gentle waterfall into the pond. My dad keeps the stove in the garage going through the winter so the water doesn't freeze. They have successfully maintained 7 years of goldfish. They reproduce on their own. The larger older fish are huge now.

5. I thought you were gonna tell us the Ice is gone...
Around here, people put little bales of barley straw in their ponds to clear the alge. Our barrel garden went through a green period, then cleared. Another month, and the fish go back outside. they have grown, too!
