Oh, bloody HELL. I DID NOT KNOW that Marvel Comic legend Gene Colan died on June 23rd.

Gene Colan, RIP

I regret to tell you that Gene passed away on 6/23/2011, around 11pm. Gene had ongoing health issues with his liver, heart and cancer. He was a fighter to the end, making plans on leaving the hospice to return home. He wanted me to price him a VW Beetle.

From March 28th, 2011:

Presenting Gene and his new dog/master, Oreo. 2-3 years old, unknown mixed breed, extremely loving & attentive. We found him at an animal rescue place on Long Island. It took awhile to talk Gene out of a Retriever, or a German Shepherd, or some dog that even as a puppy, would be able to drag Gene by the leash.

From October 14, 2007 (an email I received from Gene in response to my email, thanking him for Iron Man and Captain America and Dr. Strange and all of teh amazing work he did that inspired me in my youth:
