What musical instrument would you like to learn to play?
I'd love to learn the piano but my fingers aren't very nimble.

1. Didgeridoo
My dad has one, but he still hasn't figured out the double-breathing. I've never tried it.

23. I have one, but it scares our cat shitless so I haven't played in a year
She's also incredibly terrified of thunderstorms.

5. Piano.
It's complex and you can play in so many styles, and sing along!

My mother played well. Interestingly, I never recall her showing a bit of interest in teaching me. Ah well, territory is territory.

7. A Stroh ukulele

That, or a musical saw, or a theremin. Actually, I already play the saw, just not very well; I need a bigger bow (cello or a bass bow).

8. Guitar and accordion.
Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 01:09 PM by GoCubsGo
I had some guitar lessons in high school, but I was never able to keep up with them. As for the accordion, I wish I knew how to play it, but I am far too uncoordinated to be any good at it.

I kind of know how to play the piano, but I'm not very good at it. Wouldn't mind if I could play better. Had organ lessons as a kid, but my teacher got pregnant, and that was the end of it.

9. I've been thinking about a mandolin.
But every time I get close to having the $130 saved up for the "beginner's kit" (which is a steal) that my local independent music-instrument seller has, I'm beset with some financial mishap; currently a dead cell phone and a need for new interview clothes.

27. I played alto sax in the HS band.
Orchestra seating had us next to the oboes and bassoons.

I can attest that they complained about sore cheeks way more than we did.

20. Guitar
Yeah, boring. I've already played the piano and oboe and tried to teach myself the guitar but it was so long ago. I'd love to learn the bass guitar and violin as well. Or the cello - that looks so cool! I'm not cut out for drums. I also say no to any brass - no spit valves for me, thank you! lol.

More specifically the Hammond B-3, with a leslie speaker of course. I've been playing electric guitar for 38 years and I'd be tempted to trade it all away to be proficient on that magical calliope :P

39. Guitar, for real - not whatever I'm doing with it now.
I'd like to really be able to play this thing, not just strum a few chords and warble along. But I think I've reached a plateau with it, and I probably won't get any better without professional help.

42. The Swinette.
A Short History of the SWINETTE

The "Swinette" is a traditional instrument invented at the turn of the century by poor southern farmers who could not afford musical instruments.

You simply stretch two horse hairs across a hog's ass and pick it with your teeth!

44. The drums.
I already play guitar, bass and piano (none of them particularly well, but it's enough for the kind of music I do), and I'm only missing drums to be completely self-sufficient. Then I could have TOTAL OBSESSIVE CONTROL!!! Muahahaha  I can manually program a MIDI drum track like nobody's business though...

Although I'd put having a decent singing voice above that, but, again, I make do.

Realistically though, I'd love to learn to play the ukulele.
