I'm gonna be OLD.
In August.
22nd, to be exact.
(No gifts, please, just a card.)
:-)
I'll be 70.
That's no longer a 'Senior Citizen'.
That's OLD.

In my 50s I felt 'middle aged'.
"Hey, I'm gonna live to be 100."
:eyes:

In my 60s, I got a little cranky, but didn't really feel OLD.
Now, approaching 70, I read a lot about folks dieing at 80 Or 75.
Shit!
I'm getting towards the end of the string.
THEN WHAT?

I think life is like a light switch.
It's turned ON.
And then, at some point, it's turned OFF.
So I guess I shouldn't worry.

I won't be around to contemplate it.

If you think this is the most depressing thread in the Lounge, kick it.
:-)

1. My dear trof!
Yeah, I hear you.

I'll be 68 in November...

Funny thing is, I mostly don't feel old. Not in my mind anyway.

You sound like my husband. He thinks life is like a light switch too...on, and then off...poof! Nothing.

*sigh*

:hi:

5. 90, or when you can't get it up anymore, is old.
Edited on Tue Jun-07-11 07:26 PM by Moondog
Whichever comes first.

Me, I look forward to being a burden upon the Xers, the Millenials, and the taxpayers generally, for a long time to come.

Had a couple of uncles who made it into their 90s. Claimed they become indifferent to women after they hit 90. One died in his sleep at 93, the other killed off in a car accident at 92.

The point is, you've got at way to go yet.

7. The numbers don't bother me.
It's the fraying around the edges....the sudden realization that climbing my stairs is a lot of work...my growing fondness of bedtime....walking into a room and forgetting why the hell I walked into the room in the first place....aches. Pains. etc.
I'm just a year behind you, Trof.
Sigh. Ah well, consider the alternative...

8. I am 72 and I do not feel old, but sometimes my body does.
Look at this way: It's better to be old than the alternative, which is 6 feet under.

9. As a 65 year old
I must say, "You are always the same age inside."

But that is part of the tragedy of older age, I guess.

10. I am a 25 year old punk rocker...
...at 56 and counting.

Thankfully, "real" punk is long dead, so I can continue on, in any way I like.

Not to mention, I am due beer and travel money!

(Special Thanks and Props to Random Thoughts)

12. For this...
...for explaining, in one of your posts, the whole beer, travel money, experiences thing. It had to do with being a traveling professional pool player, IIRC?

It reminds me of what it was like to play in a punk band in the late 70s-early 80s.

Sounds pretty much like the same kinda situation, relatively speaking.

17. It ain't fair.
Our bodies don't last as long as they should. Just when you get things figured out, the body starts to disappoint.

I have just recently realized that people are starting to treat me with deference because of my age, not because of my qualities. Gah!!

18. I subscribe to the Jack Benny theory of aging.
He was always "39 and holding".

I'm thirty-nine and holding as well. :D

Been thirty-nine and holding for over a decade now. :D

Old is anyone 15 years ahead of me.

And my own: Life's too short to worry about getting old.

Coming up on 70 myself.

were at the funeral.

We're planning to be very, very old!
