1. That's definitely my favorite Johnson track...
...I don't even need to think about it, BLAM...I hear his name, I think of that track first.

Also one of the highlights of the first Fleetwood Mac album (1968):

Peter Green – vocals, guitar, harmonica
Jeremy Spencer – vocals, slide guitar, piano
John McVie – bass guitar
Mick Fleetwood – drums

2. That shit is spooky.
If ever I could believe that a man saw the devil with his own eyes, it would be the man who made that music.

3. Johnson's contribution to modern music is undeniable.
Happy Birthday to you Robert.

One of my faves. Preachin' Blues (Up Jumped the Devil)

6. Last summer we ate at Abe's BBQ in Clarksdale, at The Crossroads.
Edited on Mon May-09-11 12:03 AM by nolabear
Of course the location of "The" Crossroads is speculative, but Abe's is a little old place that's been there since Robert Johnson's time and they have the sheepish distinction, they claim, of being the place where he ate BBQ, handed out the back door. The BBQ is good, but the story and their embarrassment and pride hand in hand are priceless.

If you've never been to Clarksdale, go. I try to go down every couple of years because the festivals kick major ass. Those old blues men are dying out fast, though. If you can't, here's a shameless ad for www.cathead.biz. They just about keep the blues going around there and could use your internet money.

7. Two good friends of mine (both singers) stopped in Clarksdale for 2 or 3 days
a couple of years ago. The both told me I HAVE to go there if I get a chance.

9. Gee... what are the odds of this...
I just listened to a Robert Johnson CD - "King of the Delta Blues" just a minute ago and I did not know it was his b'day...
