Unfortunately I spent most of my HS geometry classes out on smoker's corner. If I can simplify this for my daughter I will be a hero! Any tips?

a=1/2(92√3)(92)

square root of 3 = 1.73205080756888
1.73205080756888 x 8464 = 14660.078035263
14660.078035263 x 1/2 (or divided by 2) = 7330.0390176315

2. A little hard to do ... it all depends upon how one interprets

the way you typed it in.

One interpretation would be:

a = 1/2 (ie. one half) times (92 times the square root of 3 times 92) or a = ½ * 92 * √3 * 92
a = 46 times 1.372 times 92
a = 79.675 times 92
a = 7330

A second interpretation would be:

a = 1 divided by (2 times 92 times the square root of 3 times 92) or
a = 1 ÷ (2 * 92 * 1.372 * 92)
a = 1 divided by (184 times 1.372 times 92)
a = 1 divided by (318.7 times 92)
a = 1 divided by 29320
a = 0.00003412

Note than since 92 is a multiplier in the equation twice it can be written as 92^2 (ie 92 squared).

On edit: if you type your equation into EXCEL exactly as typed here, ie: 1/2 * (92 * 3^2) * 92 you get 38088.

So ... take your pick.
