1. That used to happen to me.
When I was hyperthyroid, I could stay awake for thirty-six hours. It wasn't that I wanted to do that, it just happened. I would listen to loud music to wind DOWN.

A dead thyroid has disadvantages, but I don't miss the extreme insomnia.

Please sleep soon.

9. Don't wean yourself off of the meds on your own.
Make sure you get in to see a doctor to help you do this the correct way. K?

8. Actually...
for approximately half of the 40% of the population that a melatonin supplement does nothing for physiologically, it's actually rather bad because it suppresses production of other sleep hormones causing increased insomnia. The same is true of Valerian root and chamomile as well.

In most of the public it does work for, it produces persistent low-grade hangover symptoms for 1-2 hours post waking.

Lunesta might be mildly addictive, but I wake up feeling awesome!

Try doing a disaster recovery weekend, you go to work Friday morning and finish Monday morning. That will put some hair on your ass.
