Yes, I still make time for bad stupid freakishly addictive popular music. In the car. Usually I can listen to two, maybe three songs at a time before having to find another station. But lately, for the last couple of months, I haven't been able to find anything I can listen to. It's like the stations are deliberately picking the worst, most unlistenable stuff. I can't ever recall music being this bad, even in the late '90s, when I was more or less forced to stay away from mainstream radio for three years.

Is anyone else having this problem or is it in my head?

3. There's good pop music out there
Unfortunately it doesn't make mainstream radio very often. Here's a couple of groups I enjoy

Frightened Rabbit - Swim Until You Cant See Land

7. Still plenty of time, but last year I thought sucked ...
one song was played by almost every station, but it didn't make critics' best or worst lists ...

Neon Trees "Animal" - fucking horrible.

14. Face it, pop music generally always sucks
Guess how many #1 hits Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and The Clash had - zero in the U.S. (at least, that I can find in a quick search). To be fair, some artists getting to #1 in the 1960's were great (Beatles, Stones), but for the most part, pop music is largely forgotten as time goes on.

19. It's been a particularly good year for music in general, with..
some I'm REALLY anxious for: new A Fine Frenzy, new Michelle Branch, new Stevie Nicks, The Cars, Kelly Clarkson, etc. I like pop music and haven't noticed more bad songs than usual.
