Why is it okay to mock Christians but not Muslims or Jews?

13. Yah, me too, only I'm making a pork roast. Sweating my ass off in the kitchen too.
Cream of broccoli soup, roasted carrots with a brown sugar glaze, roasted asparagus fresh from my garden with a bearnaise sauce, and spaetzle with gravy. Apple tart for desert.

27. Oh, yeah?
I wish I knew how you felt, too.

Personally, I can't even categorize my belief system. I know I believe in me (but like John Lennon's description of it all, I know what I don't believe in).

I have to believe in something. And, when I experience the universe, it still makes me want to connect TO the universe in a way that requires some belief.

Whew.... This is heavy.

Happy Day, Fuzz

28. Happy day to you too. I just finished dinner with the family, cig break in my office.
Enjoy your belief system, seriously. I get mocked constantly by people who know I'm an atheist, either that or condemned with is pretty much the same thing. I'm not offended, just annoyed. ;)

8. I can't speak for the poster.
But for me I am much quicker to lambast and mock christianity because I was raised under it. It took a goo portion of my adult life to undo the harm done by the restrictive and oppressive practices. The dogmas and the inflicted guilt took years to shake.

In a sense, I have earned the right to mock that which oppressed me through childhood.

10. It's ok to mock them all, and I do. As I wrote in another thread:
The reason I mock Christianity mostly is because that is what I personally was exposed to growing up. I honestly don't know as much about other religions to mock them with the same amount of humor. When I do, it's more of a fuck that, kind of thing with perhaps some humor at the particular situation.

24. At this point, I am surprised this thread remains here.
There are a couple threads about Sai Baba dying elsewhere on DU.

To be consistent, I guess you had better go to those and start mocking them.

For me, I would rather see such mockery of others' beliefs knocked out by the mods.

29. I'd have to find out who Sai Baba is first. I wouldn't mock any person's death, but
I would mock any person who claimed it was caused by an immortal being for some wrongdoing or something similar. Make sense?

25. Sure, knock yourself out. There is SO much to make fun of.
You can start with the rudeness, big hair, or go even ruder if you like. I've also lived in CT, WI and VA. Go ahead and hit those states too. My parents are from Germany, make nazi jokes, like making fun of Auschwitz isn't funny, my dad grandfather died at Auschwitz. He fell out of a watchtower.

I'm rarely if ever offended.

Jokes made in good humor are great. Speeches not meant in good humor and meant to be taken seriously are WAY more offensive.

By decorating it with gold & wealth.

Then they ignore the homeless beggars living around them. "Those God-damned bums should just get a job!"

Happy Zombie Jesus Day!
