vibe thread for MFM, if you are inclined
he is having a medical procedure today, but there are some other things going on and I know he would appreciate your good thoughts/wishes/prayers/etc.

He will be OK, but sometimes life is a struggle, ya know?

32. Back!!!
.
.
.
Thank you, Kali!
.
.
.
And thank you everyone! :grouphug:
.
.
.
This was very nice to come home to.
.
.
.
.
.
Long story short. Aortic stenosis (constricted heart valve) with poor pumping volume. Makes
me tire easily, VERY short of breath with any exertion, multitude of risk factors.
.
.
.
I had a heart catheterization today. Had one before -- 2-3 years ago. They threaded a catheter up
through an artery (I assume the femoral) in my groin (owwie-owwie-owwie hushlilbabiesdontyoucry)
to my heart and (this time): Pumped in dye and took pictures of my cardiac arteries from the
outside to see if there's any blockage (this is the only thing they did the last time and they
were amazed and shocked and impressed, considering my, ahem... proclivities in the past,
that they were in such great shape -- then and now.) And this time they took pressure readings
of the actual blood flow from (in?) my heart. Not good -- not imminently critical, but needs to be
fixed (YOW -- I asked THEM not to fiddle around in my groin while using the word "fixed" and
now I've gone and done it).
.
.
.
Blood test in 2-5 days... consult with my cardiologist and cardiology surgeons soon after that.
.
.
.
Open-heart valve replacement in one or two months (probably) -- one-to-two weeks in this
WONDERFUL hospital (ommmm tagteambedbaths mani padme hum ommmm tagteambedbaths
mani padme hum) -- and then back, not to "normal"... but a VASTLY improved life.
.
.
.
Risks... but certain deterioration and increasingly dismal life without it.
.
.
.
I'm looking forward to getting much "better".
.
.
.
Thank you again... I'll probably be asking for one of these MYSELF prior to the surgery.

33. glad to see you're back, MFM!
My mom has aortic stenosis, but due to her age and other medical issues, she's just on a stabilization regimen, no open heart anything for her, period. I am glad you're a candidate for valve replacement!

Meanwhile, take it easy!

35. Jesus Christ, man!
You have my sympathy and my at least one step removed understanding. My husband has had so many stents put in during the past ten years he practically jimgles when he walks. Nine, I think. So far he's avoided open heart but it may eventually happen. Good news for him is that he's got a pretty normal life, just with lots of meds and a voluntarily heart-healthy diet.

I hope it all goes terrifically and yes, from everything I know your life should be like "Holy crap! I didn't realize how bad I felt!"

Hang in there.

46. good news
mostly

I'm sure waiting and the idea of surgery is not real pleasant, but a plan and an explanation for feeling shitty beyond just "mood" is a positive. Glad I didn't have to hunt you down ;-) or :scared: use the phone.

Sorry to everybody that I posted this and just left it yesterday, was busy baking strange bread and prepping a birthday dinner. There are a couple of LOL funny things posted in it.

I love your posts, too -- you know that! I've been very interested in the Wisconsin workers since the horror show began, but I'm going to check in more often. 52. While anaesthetized, I thought I heard my surgeon say they could open my valve by many millimeters.

Now I'm wondering if he was saying I could be one of many in a "millipede".
