How does one go about putting up music on YouTube?

I looked on YouTube for a vid of a song but that particular mix is not on there. Didn't find one with a Google either. So what do I do if I wanna put this up on YouTube? There's gotta be some tricks and shortcuts.

1. People usually just make a "video" consisting of a soundtrack and a picture.
