Worst cartoons you remember?
Childhood, adulthood, Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood...

What were the worst cartoons you've seen?

For me?
Terrytoons.
Mighty Mouse, Heckle And Jeckle, Farmer Al Falfa, etc.

They were cheaply made, badly animated, and the sound was awful.

1. Cow and Chicken.
To explain what was bad about it would be to give it too much recognition.

But there's nothing worse than "Clutch Cargo".

See for yourself ;)

11. Well, okay
:P

As a kid, I don't think I cared. If it was a cartoon, I watched it ;)
In later years, the "Syncro-Vox" was kind of creepy. They did a better job of that with Space Angel and why I didn't include it. Plus the stories were better.

4. Those 1960s '2nd generation' Tom and Jerry cartoons with the wierd echoey soundtracks....
I don't even know what that crap was SUPPOSED to be-
it was just some unwatchably messed-up stuff.

Fred Quimby was spinning in his grave when they made that shit.

5. Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa
As an adult. It was on in 1992-93. It was so bad that I had to google to get the name. I love cows and was looking forward to it, but it was so bad that I didn't watch it more than once or twice. But I do have a cow character bubble bath from the cartoon.

Another bad one was The Brothers Grunt, also as an adult. I think it was on MTV. Does anyone remember that?

I probably am thankfully forgetting the bad cartoons of my childhood; I'm sure there were some.

6. A lot of the later Popeye and Woody Woodpecker cartoons were pretty bad.
Woody Woodpecker cartoons were produced right up into the early seventies, a full decade after most other studios had closed their cartoon divisions. Cartoons from those last few, limping years were atrocious, mostly. I remember one Woody cartoon in which audio synchronization was a full 3-4 seconds off the visual.

The final Popeye cartoons (before Popeye's Saturday morning revival in the late '70's) were simply depressing. Muddy, shoddy-looking animation, stupid plots, boring execution. The series had come a long way from the masterful, black-and-white Fleischer cartoons of the '30's, and the bright, festive color cartoons of the '40's and '50's.

8. As a kid, the Terrytoons stuff just bummed me out. It was my intro to the concept of 'off-brand.'
After the initial wave of Japanese animation (AstroBoy, Gigantor, even Speed Racer), that stuff got pretty sad, too. Everything's about some kids controlling or learning to control some powerful force. Sheesh, we get it. Tell fucking Pikachu to go steal a pic-a-nic basket and don't stretch it out for 23 minutes.

Most Hanna-Barbera output post-Flintstones, especially Scooby Doo
Muppet Babies
Early Tom and Jerry

Hanna-Barbera's "mail-it-in" style of cartooning at it's worst. They ran out of ideas, so they combined (milked) all their old badly-animated factory shows into one big stupid mess.

Every show was a long, painful sequence of disjointed pop culture references. I recall one episode in which the entire "joke" was that William Shatner can't act. Oh my goodness! How edgy and original!

44. Crusader Rabbit, Speed Racer, and The Smurfs
Crusader Rabbit was so bad I would leave the room whenever that show came on. The humor in that show was mostly puns and the animation was pretty lame too. I guess being a female, I didn't get Speed Racer. My brothers liked it, I hated it. The Smurfs show was terrible on all levels: animation, plots, annoying characters. Dishonorable mention goes to Cow & Chicken and Johnny Bravo on the Cartoon Network. The animation on both of them was unbelievably bad and the characters beyond stupid. I refused to let my children watch those shows.
