1. my dad loved dates like this. i remember what a deal he made
Edited on Tue Jan-11-11 04:53 AM by orleans
over 7/7/77.
8/8/88.
probably made a big deal over 6/6/66--but i was too young to understand.

he also told me he could make his black pen write blue.

"let's see" i responded.

then he showed me...

b-l-u-e

my dad was awesome.

after awhile (a week? a month?) he told me he could make his blue pen write red.

same thing and i fell for it again.

yes, he was awesome.

and he worked too hard/too much.

2. You made me smile
I have similar memories of my dad...he died way too young...your thread was a nice reminder of my dad's wacky wit.

4. What a sweet memory
:)

One of my bitter-sweet memories with my dad was when he was dying. I did some arm wrestling with him and he won. And then he smiled. He couldn't speak anymore, but his smile was full of love.

9. My nephew's wife had a baby this morning. Voluntarily!
I mean, she had a C-section, so voluntarly decided this would be his birthday. They are decidedly meh about the fact but I say it'll influence his life, not to mention the fact that his Great Aunt is going to call him "Onesie" for the rest of his life...
