who misses the duzys?

so, this post is from mopinko member, not mopinko mod or representative of du in any way. this is also not a proposal for a new forum, just an idea.

the idea has been rattling around in my mind for a little while, and was dislodged by the thread begging for the top 10 to return. i miss the duzys. it occurs to me that we could have a little forum where people could post links to noteworthy posts. not a big deal for anyone to gather, sort, format, etc, just post a link, maybe some clues about the joke, but just not a big deal.

2. I miss them, because who the hell has time to read EVERY thread?

And I'm not suggesting that the DUzys, even at their peak, captured every single crumb of wit that passed through these gates, but it was a lot of fun seeing the thread posted and being an attention whore and looking to see if anything of mine made it.

Every once in a while I will see a thread response and someone will respond to that with "DUzy!"...so I'm guessing that they still hold a warm spot in the hearts of many here.

9. I thought the best way to do the DUzys would be to...

...have the Admins make a "DUzy" username and give the password to a member that had the time and inclination to process the nominations. Similar to the "top10" username that EarlG uses for the Top 10 Conservative Idiots.

The Admins could put out a call for a DUzy Master, who would get the password for "DUzy" and could only post in E&OA when logged in as that username.

Having them under a single username would also provide continuity to the DUzy awards and not clog up the member's Journal.
