I'm re-reading "The Long Goodbye" for the first time in many years....
I don't remember exactly when I read it the first time,
but it was CLEARLY before I learned how to appreciate good writing.

I'm reading it SLOWLY, and sounding out the rhythmic bits of the prose,
and it's the most AWESOME thing I've ever read.

Raymond Chandler kicks Shakespear in the balls 8 times before
he makes his first cup of coffee in the morning.

1. I read that for the first time this year along with
other works in a collection earlier this year.

Definitely a kick ass story teller, craftsman with words. I don't know about killing Shakespeare in the balls but certainly he need not bow (nor would he I think) before Shakespear.
