1. Look at clothes. These are the finest garments possible. This is how we show our status.

2. The lack of smiles. I wondered for a long time why models in ads look "fierce". There is a very good reason for it. The only people who can wear such expressions are very high status people or those who think they have high status. If your maid came into your house with that expression you would kick her out and fire her. So if someone looks like that they must have high status and thus their objects, if emulated, are worth having. The higher up the price ladder you go the less smiles you see. K Mart models smile, Dior models do not. They are showing their high status by not smiling. (Not that I think these turds have high status. As I said downthread, I think each of these people should be drown in a toilet.)

3. The setting - again showing off wealth and thus status.

A friend of mine runs a hedge fund and sends out a long holiday letter. My buddy who has a son in jail, not so much.
