Okay the holidays just got more fun...we had an electrical fire

we recently had electrical work done. We were sitting in the living room when the lights started to flicker. I heard a loud noise down cellar. I ran down with an extinguisher. The new electrical cable was arcing like mad and burning. Needless to say the fire department had to come and found the situation well in hand but now the electrician had some splaining to do. Nobody was hurt except my pride, after all for a firefighter to have a fire is kind of like a cop getting robbed.

The electrician just arrived and the deputy fire chief is reaming him a new one.

3. I'm guessing the electrician was cutting corners with cheap cable

or the wrong gauge. He deserves to be reamed.

4. the electrical inspector will be here in the morning

Thing was he came highly recommended. I ran his license before hiring him and there weren't any problems. Guess that won't be the case after tomorrow.

He replaced the burned out wiring last night. He'll be back to finish up this morning. My daughter said she couldn't sleep.
