The Irony of Air America on a Clear Channel station is....
Hearing all the Fraudministration ads (Powell, Ridge, etc).

Most hilarious was the Anti-pot ad they just aired, immediately followed by Franken's Grateful Dead "bumper music"

1. Clear Channel worships money over everything.
If the local station there in Portland thinks it will make more money by being an Air America affiliate, corporate is all over that.

4. If that were true, they wouldn't have sacked Howard Stern.
No doubt that CC are greedy bastards, but they're also close personal friends of the Idiot Son of an Asshole. Stern became a liability when he told the truth about Junior. Obviously, Air America is planning on doing that 24/7. Hell, Michael Moore just called Al Gore "Mr President". They gotta be cringing at that ;)

5. Yeah, but the stations are managed locally in most cases.
That station in Portland must not have been a money maker, so the decision to change formats will be OK as long as it makes money. Now CORPORATE Clear Channel would prefer not to carry AA, but if they can make a buck from it, they will.

2. The bigger and better irony for me was watching Tom Petty
belt out "The Last DJ" at a Clear Channel-sponsored concert.

"There goes your freedom of choice, there goes the last human voice..."

He thanked the audience for making a song that no radios were allowed to play a top ten single.
