"Buffy" fans are not going to be happy...
I know there are many more pressing issues facing the country, but as you know I'm a fan of BTVS so I'm happy to see that a new Buffy movie is in the works. Too bad Wheedon, Noxon or Espenson aren't involved as writers. The casting will be interesting, though. Any thoughts?

1. Oh god.
It's not going to be the same without Whedon or Noxon. What's the point without the original writers?

3. I'm a big Buffy fan, but I'm not offended by it
Kind of indifferent to the whole thing.

Kinda think the outrage from internet Whedonites is a little much, frankly.

6. The source material
Is the shitty film version from 1922, that's all they have the rights to, not the TV series. So they can't include any of the characters from the TV series other than Buffy herself.

and I am not happy.

I swear to God, Hollywood should just leave some things alone and this is one of them.

Kristin, I'm glad you asked for my thoughts on the announcement of Buffy the cinema film. This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths—just because they can't think of an original idea of their own, like I did with my Avengers idea that I made up myself.

Obviously I have strong, mixed emotions about something like this. My first reaction upon hearing who was writing it was, "Whit Stillman AND Wes Anderson? This is gonna be the most sardonically adorable movie
EVER." Apparently I was misinformed. Then I thought, "I'll make a mint! This is worth more than all my Toy Story
residuals combined!" Apparently I am seldom informed of anything. And possibly a little slow. But seriously, are vampires even popular any more?

I always hoped that Buffy would live on even after my death. But, you know, AFTER. I don't love the idea of my creation in other hands, but I'm also well aware that many more hands than mine went into making that show what it was. And there is no legal grounds for doing anything other than sighing audibly. I can't wish people who are passionate about my little myth ill. I can, however, take this time to announce that I'm making a Batman movie. Because there's a franchise that truly needs updating. So look for The Dark Knight Rises Way Earlier Than That Other One And Also More Cheaply And In Toronto, rebooting into a theater near you.

Leave me to my pain! Sincerely, Joss Whedon.

10. I was SOOO addicted to that show years ago. I've grown up a little bit now and
yeah it was a fun well written tv show. The show by the end really fizzled out. I can't get too upset.

11. I grew to hate BTVS on t.v., so I'm looking forward to this.
Normally, I don't go in for reboots, but this could be interesting.

16. No Wheedon AND no Scoobies
It's basically the Buffy character and whatever new characters they come up with. No Angel, no Spike, no Giles...

...I've probably watched the series on DVD, front to back, three to four times. Not sure how much I'd enjoy a "Buffy" movie with all of those characters missing.

18. I always thought that the BtVS series could have been way better...
...without the creator, head writers and cast. :eyes:

I'm not offended, but the show mostly ran out of gas six years ago (or longer, to some eyes). I'm just mystified that a remake/reboot movie would even be considered now. Shouldn't they wait another decade or two for the predictable nostalgia romp with its inevitable cameos?

Oh, well--they keep remaking Doctor Who with plenty of success. I doubt I'll go see a mutant Buffy, but I'll wish 'em luck. The current Nerd Rage alone must be daunting.

..because that looks like it's gonna be about as uplifting
as watching a bunch of pompous Hollywood parasites
gang-banging an old friend's corpse.
