4. Bill Bryson!
I love him!! "The Lost Continent" - I've read it about 5 times and fall on the floor laughing every single time. He's a freakin genius.

Bryson is such a good writer, really, check out his other stuff. Funny, poignant, educational. "Neither Here Nor There" - about his travels around Europe - very interesting, I may pick it up again to read tonight, actually. Also, "In a Sunburned Country", about Australia, some very fascinating stuff about that continent. I had no idea, and it was very enlightening. He's also written some good - I don't know, I guess you'd call them grammar books, about the use and misuse of the English language. Really, he's just a good writer all-around.

6. I recently finished his latest "At Home"
right now, I'm working my way through Mark Twain's Autobiography. I wish the scholars had put their notes in a separate section. Because that = :boring: Twain's writing is much more enjoyable, even if I don't read all the background crap first.

A fascinating read for anyone who wants to understand exactly how we got into this mess.
