Does ATT have some kind of lost iPhone insurance?
A friend lost his iPhone4 (probably stolen) and I can't believe he's totally SOL. Is there really no coverage that ATT has for lost phones? I always had insurance thru my cell phone provider, and used it once when I lost my phone.

I can't imagine having a mega expensive phone and no insurance! Phones get lost all the time. Does anyone know how much it would cost to replace???

1. there is a warranty that you can buy when you buy the phone, but no "insurance" for
a lost phone. If she has homeowners/renters insurance, she may be able to file a claim through that route.

FWIW, i've had cellphones since the mid 1990's and have never had a cellphone company that had a policy to replace a lost or stolen phone.

3. Well that explains others' confusion then
My company replaced lost phones in the past, but I guess they're the only one. I was wondering why everyone looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned cellphone insurance. I think State Farm does it too but I think it's extra. Unbelievable. Thanks.

2. The iPhones themselves cost several hundred bucks.
I was seeing the iPhone 4's on ebay going for $600 to $700.

5. Verizon Wireless offer insurance for lost/stolen/damaged phones...
.
.
.
.
.
...for between $4.49 and $7.99/mo -- depending on the phone and whether
you want the option to extend their warranty from one to two years (not
a bad idea).
.
The deductible is $39 for "regular" phones and $89 for more complex phones
(like Blackberries and Droids).
.
You have to get it within one month of the phone's original purchase date
and can't get it back if you opt out ('til you buy a new phone) and can
file two claims within a rolling calendar year.

I see found cameras and cell phones on Craiglist Lost and Found quite often- maybe someone would like to able to return it to him.
If you found one what would you do with it?

8. I bought my blackberry through Best Buy
and went with Verizon. Best Buy offered their own insurance plan and it did cover lost phones. And damage caused by misuse or anything really. It didnt matter what happened to it, they covered it.

Of course, since I had the coverage, nothing ever happened to my blackberry.

9. AT&T does offer insurance.
It's about $12 per month... But, you can't buy it after your phone goes missing.

I just had to pay $699 to replace my stolen iPhone 4, because I didn't think about the insurance.
