I don't even want to discuss candy corn.

3. Smarties was the big bang for the buck candy back in my day
Well, not a buck, but under a nickel. I believe they may have cost two cents. Bubble gum and Jolly Ranchers were a penny, but one could grow tired of those, so Smarties was an economical alternative when a quarter had to last a week.

4. Yeah... our son likes them, and as candy goes they're not too bad.
We put one in his lunchbox each day.

6. Smarties are famous throughout the autism community
because of their use in the "Sallie-Anne experiment", which purported to show that children with autism lacked what is called a "theory of mind" (later research showed that the ability is delayed rather than absent).

9. Sure.....

The AMC theater chain here in FT Worth used to sell them in a theater box size of loose candies (not rolled) back in the late 90s. That was the only place I've ever seen that size, though. And Smarties are WAY better than Sweettarts.

14. Not just European - Canada gets these Smarties, too.
They're like plain M&Ms, but with better quality chocolate.

What exactly are American Smarties? Are they chocolates of some sort, or are they completely different?

15. American "Smarties" aren't chocolate candies.
They're small, slightly tart tablets sold in a roll of about ten.

They're called "Rockets" in Canada, according to Wiki.

17. Rockets!
I remember those! I always had them in my Halloween bag, but I don't think I ever went out of my way to find them at any other time of year.

11. Yes. Swiss smarties are my godaughters' favorite, and now my US nephew's fave, so
I buy them pretty regularly. :-)

Our Democratic group buys them gives them out when we walk in parades. That is because Democrats are smart.

19. I don't think we've ever bought them at Halloween, but we'll get a bag
once or twice at other times of the year.

Halloween is a time for a chocolate-y binge-fest around here... :9
