The song I will have played at my funeral
Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 01:54 AM by Paragon
"We all loved (Paragon). His one wish for this service was to play this song as a reflection..."

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

Life's a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life...

The congregation will whistle along -- even if I have to pop out of my casket and tell them to.

:silly:

My wife says she'll refuse to do it.

3. Well, I Want a Traditional New Orleans Jazz Band at My Funeral
if there are any left by the time I kick the bucket.

On the way into the cemetary, they will play "Just a Closer Walk with Thee." On the way out, as they pass the gates, they'll start playing the Saints and Tiger Rag.

7. Very cool.
Pete was an incredible clarinetist. His version of "St. James Infirmy" is great. He did some corny stuff, but when he was playing with Hirt, he was hot (i.e. "Oh, Didn't He Ramble")

9. I bought some CDs when I found out the family connection.
I didn't even have an interest in the music, but after listening I like it alot. I don't really know the songs by name, I just put them in the stereo every now and then when I'm chilling out. It's definitely good stuff, though.

4. I want
KaTe Bush's "Night Of The Swallow" or "Get Out Of My House".

If I should die before them, my parents have already refused. Bastards.

Khash.

(If I get Amazing Grace, everyone involved will die by my zombie hands - I swear.)

8. One of my friends had a great song at his funeral
"Que Sera, Sera." He was a huge Doris Day fan and it was VERY funny when we realized what it was. It was kinda hard to tell with the organ playing just the intro....until he got into the chorus of the song, it sounded to me like just another funeral dirge.

20. Ramble On by Led Zeppelin
Leaves are falling all around,
It's time I was on my way.
Thanks to you, I'm much obliged
For such a pleasant stay.
But now it's time for me to go,
The autumn moon lights my way.
For now I smell the rain,
And with it pain,
And it's headed my way.
Ah, sometimes I grow so tired,
But I know I've got one thing I got to do,

*Ramble On,
And now's the time, the time is now
To sing my song.
I'm goin' 'round the world,
I got to find my girl, on my way.
I've been this way ten years to the day, Ramble On,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.

Got no time to for spreadin' roots,
The time has come to be gone.
And tho' our health we drank a thousand times,
It's time to Ramble On.

* Chorus

I ain't tellin' no lie.
Mine's a tale that can't be told,
My freedom I hold dear;
How years ago in days of old
When magic filled the air,
T'was in the darkest depths of Mordor
I met a girl so fair,
But Gollum, and the evil one crept up
And slipped away with her.
Her, her....yea.
Ain't nothing I can do, no.

* Chorus

Gonna ramble on, sing my song
Gotta keep-a-searchin' for my baby...
Gonna work my way, round the world
I can't stop this feelin' in my heart
Gotta keep searchin' for my baby
I can't find my bluebird!
I'd listen to my bluebird sing but I can't find my blue bird
A-keep-a ramblin' baby...

21. Black Muddy River by the Grateful Dead . . . .
When the last rose of summer pricks my finger
And the hot sun chills me to the bone
When I can't hear the song for the singer
And I can't tell my pillow from a stone

I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And sing me a song of my own
I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And sing me a song of my own

When the last bolt of sunshine hits the mountain
And the stars start to splatter in the sky
When the moon splits the southwest horizon
With the scream of an eagle on the fly

I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And listen to the ripples as they moan
I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And sing me a song of my own

Black muddy river
Roll on forever
I don't care how deep or wide
If you got another side
Roll muddy river
Roll muddy river
Black muddy river roll

When it seems like the night will last forever
And there's nothing left to do but count the years
When the strings of my heart start to sever
And stones fall from my eyes instead of tears

I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And dream me a dream of my own
I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And sing me a song of my own
And sing me a song of my own
