Just call me the Dog Whisperer, if you would.

(I just wish I could run. She would love to, but I can't.)

1. There's also the difference between a walk and taking a piss and/or dump.
I ask, "do you have business to attend to?" Both dogs understand.

6. Well, the "bidness" happens at the halfway point of the walk, and that's
one of the great parts. She never tries to wee on anyone's yard; she's learned to hold it until we get to the woods.

What a great dog.

2. My dear Redstone!
Now that's a good trick! You must really be a Dog Whisperer, or else your Beagle is really part human!

Enjoy your walk!

:hi:

something hideously unfair about that, but at least I can refrain from running in front of cars without being attached to a leash.

Well, sometimes I can, anyway...

4. We used to call walking our Basset hound the "drag and sniff".
Once those scent hounds get their noses on to something, it is all over.

5. "Drag and Sniff." I like that. My cousin told me once: "Beagles are great dogs,
and very intelligent, but the minute they get outside their brain fall out of their noses."

She's still like that when I take her out in the morning, but in the evening when I say the Magic Word "walk," she's all business.

Gol dang, I love this dog.

7. My beagle is fine on walks, but occasionally gets distracted by this smell or another.
It's always smells. Stuff I can't see, but wonder 'did the developers bury a body there?'

9. Nah, another dog walked there two weeks ago. That's how beagles are.

but if I start putting on my shoes, he starts acting all nutty.
Boo is a Smooth Coat Collie. The. Smartest. Dog. I. Ever. Have. Had.
I recommend a Smooth Coat Collie if you are looking for a full breed.

Check the Rescue Society.
