Home Movies says farewell
Alas, it's official. Adult Swim will not be renewing Home Movies after episode 52 debuts on Sunday, April 4. We received official confirmation the week before last (i.e. Mike Lazzo told us), but we sat on the news in order to let Brendon make the announcement himself during his recent appearance in Atlanta:

Ratings are what drives any decision of this nature. But I'll remind everyone that there was a time when we never dreamed we'd see more Family Guy episodes, either. Home Movies will continue to be a part of the Adult Swim experience, but for now there won't be any new episodes forthcoming.

I also know that Mike Lazzo is in continual discussion with Brendon and the folks at Soup2Nuts about the possibility of new series. We will let you know if anything happens on that front.

Thanks,

SwimBuddha

5. WTF BBQ
Being well-read and not in-your-face laugh-or-die (a la ATHF) humor hardly makes it pretentious.

OMG WTF BBQ

7. That's a shame.
Although they had been petering out the last few episodes.

Still better then Harvey Birdman, Big O, or this Oblongs bullshit.

10. The Oblongs has enough weird stuff to be funny.
I mean, a corporation called "Globocide" is just hilarious, period.

I didn't see all that much of it, though, but I remember just about dying during the episode when the mom gets forced to lead a scout troop as community service. The first half, anyway.

8. So goes Dr. Katz, so goes Home Movies...
Too bad indeed! Behind Aqua Teen Hunger Force, HM was one of my favorite shows on Adult Swim. The animation was great and the humor, wonderfully dry.

It seems that Adult Swim is gearing more and more towards Japanimation shows like Cowboy Bebop and InuYasha. While these shows are beautiful to look at, I sure will miss the absurdist humor of HM, and Family Guy when it goes back to Fox.
