Request please for smokers - DON'T USE PERFUME TO HIDE THE SMELL!!!!
Edited on Mon Mar-29-04 08:53 AM by LynneSin
This is not a rant about smoking but this strange habit that mostly female smokers do.

I'm in the elevator and you folks all know how much I hate it when someone gets in the elevator with too much perfume or cologne on them (guys can be just as bad as girls).

But even worse than that is the smoker who uses the perfume to hide the fact that they've been smoking. Earth to smoker (99% of the time it's a female): IT DOESN'T HIDE THE SMOKE AND YOU ONLY SMELL WORSE!!!! Nothing drives my sense of smell batty than the smell of smoke intertwined with the allergy busting odor of perfume. Just find a chainsaw and saw off my sinuses PUL-LEASE (thank goodness I have Clariten-D in my desk drawer).

Smoke if you must, but don't try to fool us non-smokers with the "I'll cover that nasty smoke scent with perfume" trick. It doesn't work and it makes you smell about 200% worse.

(gets off her soapbox!)

4. Actually...
I really don't think they're trying to hide the fact that they've been smoking. Smokers, in general, aren't aware just how strong the odor of smoke can be on clothes. I think its just that there are some women smokers that are wearing too much perfume.

6. Yes.
Because their noses are dying from all the smoke. They can't smell the smoke on them. I swear, I'm such a bitch, I have asked people if they realize they reak. I'm honest, and if it hurts their feelings then THEY SHOULDN'T SMOKE! I know what you mean by the offensive perfume mixed with smoke smell. Most of those women can't smell it on themselves, therefore they think no one else can either. Read: People who wear too much perfume: Your nose gets tired after awhile...smoking only increases this. If you can't smell your perfume, it probably means it's good for you. I promise, if you sprayed yourself once, everyone else can smell you, even if they don't comment!

5. How about if they crunched some doritos and gargled red wine too?

7. Normally I'm not that close to anyone - smokers & non-smokers alike
And I'm a garlic lover - believe me, I keep those breath strips handy for 'just in case'

8. Back in my dating years,
I remember the horrible TASTE of a smoker's kiss. Yuchh. What a turn-off. Much worse than the odor of smoke.

I think that some perfume users' noses are just not working properly and they just can't smell how much they are using. Some perfumes are also pretty bad. I have used a couple of them in the past that even made me so sick I had to take a shower and wash my hair to get rid of the smell.
