I mean, I want to follow the rules, but this thread I just stumbled across has to be breaking them somehow...the hate that is being posted, without remorse, over the delicious lima bean is something I can't sit still for.

Think Skinner needs to get on this, or should I hit "alert," or what should my next steps be? I am so confused.

Is Tom Ridge still head of Homeland Security? Maybe I'll just email him. Yeahhhhh...TOM. Never mind.

:eyes:

2. I was thinking of something a little more drastic than that...
...but I just emailed Mr. Ridge, and I think I'm going to wait for him to reply.

He always replies, every time I write to him.

8. Soooo, you admit to being prejudiced against Lima Beans.
Beans that never hurt anyone, just want to live their lives in peace with their neighboring beans, but you JUST WANT TO HATE THEM.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

What did they ever do to deserve this?

10. oh no, not so innocent if invoking vomit
being one to refuse to vomit even at my worst, that little innocent bean, not wanting to hurt anyone, hates ME.... first. lying there so deceptively innocent, my ass. vomit invoking taste and texture. a little tit for tat, my friend. that is all.

and i wear that bigotry proudly....

12. I think the fault lies all with you, not with the innocent Lima Beans.
Seems here that we have a little bit of a "Let's Blame The Victim For MY Shortcomings" game going on here.

I think you just won that little game.

Of course, as the game winner you get a lifetime supply of Lima Beans delivered to your front door, courtesy of The North American Lima Bean Alliance.

Enjoy.

19. Did you ever try them in a multi-bean recipe?
My Dad gave me a baked bean recipe that uses ten or so different beans, Limas being one of them, and even people that don't like them say they like this recipe.

I always loved them, even when a little kid.

Brussel sprouts, too.

20. my hubby likes all veggies too. why i did brussel sprouts. but he doesnt get any lima beans either
i was such a good kid and lima beans are what went into my pockets and down the toilet when i was little. i never did anything wrong. parents probably knew, but let me get away with it. i really am not a bean fan, so probably why i have such issue, beyond in the bean family.

nope, thanks. lol. thinking maybe do recipe for hubby though. he would like it.

are you a vegetarian? i wonder where a person who doesnt eat meat get their protein. must be beans.

21. We try to eat more veggies and less meat, but haven't cut out eating meat completely.
But we sure eat a lot of beans, many different varieties, and keep trying new recipes when we find them.

I also supplement my diet with whey protein, so I'm sure I get plenty.

23. I'm actually growing limas in my garden this year!
Nothing produced so far, unfortunately. I think the deer are stealing them all, the furry thieves. But I WILL have a lima yet, yes I will!

Oh best of beans! Bounteous with Mediterranean sun that shone upon my ancestors! My grandma put you in her minestrone and so by golly do I. I don't care if you make me a bit ... gusty, 'tis a small price to pay for your succulent goodness.

27. Lima beans are excellent! Especially if you can find fresh ones.
I've grown them, but at 3-5 to a pod, I just don't grow enough plants for anything but a an addition to dish. Frozen baby lima beans are pretty damn close to fresh!

I think the problem is that people have either had huge, pithy, undercooked limas or whatever you call the mushy things in a can that are labeled "lima beans". Asparagus has the same issue. That goop in a can really doesn't qualify. We eat fresh asparagus raw while we're working in the garden. I put in a 4'x8' bed about 5 years ago and it is doing great! We keep threatening to can or freeze the extra, but there never is any.
