2. I'd read about him being ill a while back...sorry to hear he lost the battle.
I've always felt that "Waiting For Columbus" is one of the 10 greatest live albums of all time.

I was particularly interested in the following, from the article you linked to:

"Fab Faux guitarist Jimmy Vivino also saluted the musician from the stage with Gov’t Mule at New York’s Central Park SummerStage last night."

I'm a fan of Vivino's playing from the Conan O'Brien show (he always led the band when Max was out on tour with Springsteen). Plus Gov't Mule has a pretty nice version of "Spanish Moon" on their "Live With A Little Help From Our Friends" album.

R.I.P., Richie. Keep on rockin' in the next world.

3. Very sorry to hear this...it is so tough for musicians or performers in general
to get health care...some get it through the musician's union, but many of us are not members...

I was an AF of M member at age 15, but have not paid dues since then, and they don't like me any more...I believe I had diabetes for over 20 years before it was discovered, but I had no insurance, so too bad for me.

If only we had that Canadian Style Healthcare, so many lives could be saved...but...

Thanks for all the music, Richie.

4. I'd heard he was sick, but it's still sad
Little Feat was a great, under appreciated band.

I saw Little Feat live during the Shaun Murphy era. I've also sen Bill Payne several times with Bob Seger and Sam Clayton a couple of times with Jimmy Buffet. Great musicians all around.
