An ethical question...
Edited on Sun Jul-25-10 05:27 PM by BolivarianHero
Someone I thought was my friend screwed me over on something. The financial value is only a few dollars, but she knows that the item in question is difficult for me to come by and the pain of betrayal at the hands of the only "friend" I have who doesn't live half way across the city, in my hometown a ways away, or who isn't away for the summer is weighing down on me to the extent it impairs my ability to focus on other aspects of my life that proportionately need more focus. I can get her and the other people involved in screwing me in a lot of trouble, but in order to do so, I would need to file an anonymous report with an organisation I dislike to have them charged under a law that I find unjust. Should I follow through with it if the issue is not resolved to my satisfaction?

2. My opinion...
I would probably drop it. We must choose our battles wisely and carefully.

3. I find this rather odd
It "impairs" your "ability to focus on other aspects of" life?

8. If a former friend screwed you over and you can
screw them back with an anonymous report, do it, even if you hate the organization or law involved. The world is a better place when assholes get their due.

11. let it go.
Don't do something you believe is unethical.

It's not going to get you the item back and it won't get you your friend back. If you are going to compromise your ethics, you should have a better reason than pure revenge.

13. screwing over this friend doesn't resolve anything....
and believe it or not, you'll just end up feeling worse. Have you talked to the person who screwed you over and told her that she was an asshole for doing whatever it was that she did?

15. The fact that you're struggling........
.....with whether or not to do it (get her in trouble) is your answer.

Consider the loss of "only a few dollars" the nominal fee for learning her true nature before she had the opportunity to screw you over in a MUCH worse way........'cause now you know that she would definitely do so if given the chance, yes?

:)

17. Plot your revenge carefully and laboriously
Eventually, from the little sips of poison you ingest nursing your grudge and your hurt, your former friend will drop dead. THEN we'll see who has the last laugh.
