some sort of digging critter has moved in under my house/HELP!
Edited on Fri Jul-23-10 06:15 PM by cleveramerican
A few days ago I noticed some fresh dirt had been dug out from under the slab of my side porch.
There as a hole. Something had dug out a three inch hole going under the porch
I filled it in, and put a cinder block on it.
A few days later I notice some dirt pushed out BETWEEN the siding and the block!
I pick up the block and stomped in a few rocks bigger than the hole.
The hole was little smaller this time, only one and a half inches.

What the hell is it?
How can I get rid of it?
Any wisdom on the subject would be most welcome.

And anything else he wants.

11. Live and let live. Everyone needs a place of their own.
If it is just a little hole (I agree that it could be a chipmunk), just let it be. I will feel better.

14. I had that happen once.
Found out it was a very, very, very large rat. Had to call the exterminator. Good luck!

15. Might be a groundhog . . . but, whatever it is, try a heavy sprinkling of cayenne pepper
down and around the hole. Whatever kinda critter it is,
it'll get the message to skeddadle when it licks its paws
a time or two.

16. It could be one of many different animals. Even an ordinary cat.
My cat used to do that. It is not unusual for the screens to access the crawl space under houses here to come loose, or are left off or loose by service/repair people. My cat used to love to go and spend time under people's houses.
One time I went to a house looking for him, and these two old ladies let me in to the living room. As I talked to them, I could hear him meowing at me from under the floor.
