6. I was referring to musicians but that's a great idea to add other
disciplines:

Man, I'll have to add quite a bit more but couldn't possible list them all:

Agree with John Steinbeck, Aldous Huxley, George Orwell, Charles Dickens, Emily Bronte, Jane Austen and too many more to mention..

Also agree with Spencer Tracy and have to add Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, Gregory Peck, Clark Gable, Kathryn Hepburn, Audrie Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman (sticking w/the old timers) and way too many more to list

Monet, van Gogh, Leonardo Da Vinci. Georgia O'Keefe and way too many more to list

7. All excellent choices.
I wasn't sure if your intention was musicians only as you said "artists", so I took the liberty of giving my favorites from those categories.

"Artist" is a really broad term though. I feel that there are "artists" in just about every human endeavor. Sadly, most never get anywhere near the recognition they deserve.

Cool thread, I'm looking forward to seeing who others regard highly.
