Let It Never Be Said

she is no longer young
except her heart
and
her mind

she laughs when you tell her
she isn’t old
however
she’s foolish

no question there

it’s part of her charm
or so she’s been told
part of the way she
walks
down her life path
she laughs easily
though her joints
hurt

she takes refuge in love
her mouth is tender
and pliant

the love of her man
brims her with joy
when she rolls in the bed
in his arms
and his hands caress
her he leans over

then she is young
and she always will be

Let it never be said
that she didn’t enjoy what she had

at the time
