A friend threw a small, impromptu party for me the other night for my recent resignation and kick-off into my business venture. I usually don't drink a lot, but I was in rare form. Took me a day and a half to recover fully. I used to do that stuff quite a bit and I don't know how now. Anyway, we had a good time and we drank irresponsibly responsibly. No one got hurt and no one did any drinking and driving.

3. In racing, it's slang for the engine being checked for legality

My dad used to do it for a stock car track - I did it for a season for another one. Lots on the line - money, pride, points, "creative" interpretation of the rulebook. Similar to your deal, I used to keep a pint of Yukon with my tools, to distract the hangers-on while the head wrench and I took care of business.

but it had an archive of some of the all-time great tech inspection swindles and whitewashes from early NASCAR and Trans-AM...Many of them were probably urban legends, but entertaining nonetheless

And I am due like no other. Seriously due. I mean alcohol of the finest kind. Staggering, laughing, almost falling down, "I did what??" drunk!
It ain't like it used to be, but I find I need at least 1 a year, sometimes 2...this year feels like a 3, if I ever get the chance.
